As Council President, I am embarrassed and outraged by County Executive Cassilly’s blatant lack of concern and his continued attacks on the men and women of law enforcement. His administration was provided with clear transcripts and documentation showing that this 911 call taker posed a serious threat to public safety, yet he failed to remove her from her position immediately. That failure is unacceptable.

Our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS professionals put their lives on the line every day and depend on competent leadership to protect both the public and those who serve. What they do not need is an “enemy within”, someone the Cassilly Administration knew was hostile and a potential threat to them and to the mission they swore an oath to uphold, yet chose to leave within their ranks.

County Executive Cassilly, the public should not have to pressure you into making a decision that any leader truly committed to public safety would have made weeks ago. Do the right thing for those who serve our community and ensure this dispatcher is never again on the other end of a 911 call or on the radio while first responders are fighting to save lives.
